Abstract

This articles studies some aspects of Santiago Brau's historiographical works, namely his ideas about the social and economic development of l9th Century Puerto Rico. It also analyzes Brau's considerations about the bases of the Portorrican indentity. Finally, it deals with the ideological trends that paved the way for Portorrican colective configuration, in which Brau was both part —as a member of the Autonomist Party— and ideological leader.
