The testimonial documents of the squadron commanded by Don José Solano, which between 1780 and 1783 took part in the war against Great Britain, make it evident that regions such as Andalusia and most of all Galicia protagonized the integration of the embarked military contingents. The same source sheds light on religious aspects of the 18th Century Navy, in which devotions such as the cult to the dead souls or certain advocations of Virgin Mary related to sea life also played a significant role.
