This paper studies the life and death of doña Melchora Lemos, «pulpera», miller and wine maker in Mendoza, in Chile’s Kingdom. She was the only woman who owned a «pulperia» in the province; she built the only mill of the city; and she leaded one of better winery of Mendoza. Her life and death developed under catholic church influence. The sources of the paper are unpublished documents taken from the historical Archives in Mendoza (Argentine) and Santiago (Chile).
