This article shows the role played by the medical professionalization process in the emergence and development of the «Social Issue» («Cuestión Social») in Argentina at end-19th and beginning- 20th Centuries. Attention is given to the complex and tight institutional, corporative and intellectual scheme between medical doctors and the State.
