Empresarios asturianos en Cuba (1840-1920)

This article studies a representative group of emigrants from Asturias who settled in Cuba from the second half of the 19th Century up to 1920, as well as their entreprenurial activities in some key economical sectors such as commerce, Bank, agriculture and sugar industry. It is also analysed the role played and the historical place taken by these businessmen as regards the economical growth of the Island during the said period. Finally, four case studies are made on so many firms of merchants-bankers of Asturian ascendancy.
