The preparations for José de Gálvez's visit to New Spain ( 1766). Don Francisco de Armona and the Marquis of Esquilache's secret instruction

Analyzes the policy of the Marquis of Esquilache in New Spain, where he wished to act with the same efficiency that he was showing in Spain. His intention to keep control od New Spain's official organism caused distrust and, undoubtedly, was another factor contributing to the fall of the Italian. His policy can be seen perlectly in the secret instructions that he gave to his envoy Francisco de Armona; a document whose existence has been repeatedly denied and which the autor have founds and reproduces in this article.
