Abstract

Analyzes the evolution of the Museo Social Argentino in the early twentieth century up to the crises of 1930. The Museo was one of the earliest institutional expressions of the ruling elite, which began to react as it saw its power threatened by social and political changes. Its, statutes, composition, them;atk mterests, and techniques of research and diffusion constitute the basic elements of this study, which aims at explaining the operation of the Museo on two levels: as a sector of opinion which attempts to influence society as a whole, and as an interest group which tries to -influence government actions.
