Abstract

Examines the factors which led to the creation and demise of the Royal Audiencia of Concepcion, as well as its decisions concerning appointments to public offices, military policy in connection with the Araucan war, the encomienda problem together with Indian policy, regulation of royal income, and administration of justice. The main reason for its suppression was its proximity to Santiago.
