Based on documentation from the Simanca Archives, this article revisits Sevilla’s commerce monopoly in Indias. A controversial monopoly which, at certain times such as the first half of 16th Century, was intended to be weakened and segregated in favour of other ports like Coruña, which might become the central point for the commerce of spices.
