Abstract

The objective of this article is to analyze the influence of ideas of culturalist nationalism in the configuration of studies of folklore in Argentine anthropology at the turn of the 20th Century. Following the production of leading researchers of folklore during this period allows us to detect the focus of the essentialist conception of the underlying nationality, as well as the the importance given to the indigenous and Spanish contributions to the «creole essence» as conceived by society´s elite sectors as the ethnic foundations of nationality.
