The occupation of the Spanish American territories implied the configuration of frontier regions wherever the Crown could not conquer the native populations. The aim of this work is to analyze the occupation process of the Southern frontier in the province of Buenos Aires during the government of Juan Manuel de Rosas. It meant the transit from a conflictive to a relatively stable period as regards interethnic relations.
