This work revises some aspects of the Manila Spanish society in the years after its foundation. The analysis is based on the the examination of the personal and professional trajectories of the family of don Juan Manuel de la Vega, Oidor of the second Manila Audiencia. It enables us to know the inception process of the local oligarchies, their alliances and their internal conflicts. This research has been conducted through abundant documentation from the Archivo General de Indias.
