The First Mint in Lima (1568-1692)

Explains the process of foundation and early development of Lima's first Mint, from the beginning of its activities in application of the Ordinances given by Philip II in 1565 until its termination during the 1580s. Studies crucial matters like the Mint's location, the value given to coins, and the disputes which arose between the authorities and severa! sectors of colonial society, as well as the actual functioning of, this institution (staff, value of its currency emissions, circulation, etc.).
