Analysis of the measures adopted by the Spanish government to ensure the supply of mercury in 'Peruvian mines. Between 1790 and 1815 approximately, and reflecting national and international situations, three solutions were essayed to guarantee the mercury supply: reactivation of Huancavelica, importation and large-scale accumulation of mercury from Almadén, and other sources (Idria). This analysis concentrates on the first solution, explaining the development in the management of the mine and the technological innovations that were attempted, as well as the problems connected with price and distribution of the mercury.
