Cuzco panacas and Inca painting

According to some chroniclers, the panacas of Cuzco or groups of royal family members and descendants used painting, in pre-Hispanic times, as a means of representing their origins and genealogies. This tradition was continued during colonial times, as can be seen in certain documents, by the descendants of the Incas, as proof of their claims before the Spanish Crown.
