Between 1464 and 1468 king Henry Iv of Castille first granted and then revoked the sovereignty of the counts of Atouguía and Vila Real over the Canary lslands. This affair is of capital importance because it seriously affected Castilian-Portuguese relations in the Atlantic Ocean.
