To support his descriptions the chronicler Fernández de Oviedo includes abundant linguistic information. So, for example, to describe the region of Castilla del Oro (book XXIX, 34 chapters) he introduces twenty five words of the Cueva language (of Chibcha root). Each of these words, some of which are not commented in dictionaries of Indoamericanisms, is analyzed here.
