Abstract

Four documents concerning Diego Columbus, previously konwn only by indirect references, offer some new data. One places Diego Columbus in Seville in 1508 and expresses his rejection of an economic solution to his lawsuit with the State. In a 1511 document, Hernando Columbus offers a project, in his brother's name, "to circumnavigate the world". Two 1512 documents are letters from the second Admiral to cardinal Cisneros containing news about Hispaniola, including news of a "great mortality produced by ,colds". The 1508 document is conserved in the Archivo Ducal de Alba, and the other three are in the New York Library.
