Studies Spanish-Portuguese relations in connection with frontier problems in South Amrican territories during the eighteenth century, following the bilateral diplomatic initiatives that led to the treaties of Madrid, El Pardo and San Ildefonso, their most important clauses and their relevance to comtemporary international affairs. Also offers a critical selection of the main works of Portuguese historiography on this subject, with an overview of the different approaches employed.
