Abstract

Analyzes the Inca Garcilaso's fine chromatic perception and aesthetic notions, as shown in the Royal Commentaries and The Florida of the Inca, underscoring his total affinity with Rennaissance sensibility, and suggesting that the many details referring to colours or the beauty of America not only give the texts great literary value, but that they represented a strategy to support Garcilaso's message, identifying beauty and good, and appealing for a harmonious, loving and just union of the Old World and the New.
