Abstract

This paper analizes several elements present in the traditionals imaginaries related to the Ecuadorian Oriente, according to the analysis of historygraphical, geographycal and advertising sources of the nineteenth century and early twenthy century. The result of this work is a contribution for the reinterpretation of the Ecuadorian Oriente history, which priorizes the point of view of the symbolic function played in the history of Ecuador by this region.
