Abstract

This article highlights the relevance of Luso-Castilian bilinguism in the missions founded by the Jesuit Company in the Brazilian coast throughout the second half of 16th Century (1549-1600). The analysis is focused on texts written by several jesuits, in particular those written by the Portuguese Manuel da Nóbrega and by the Spaniard José de Anchieta.
