In the context of the 100th commemoration of the great Historian Ramón Iglesia Parga's birth (Galicia, Spain, 1905-1948), this article focuses on main aspects of his life and research. His work, which led him to be considered as one of the most important researchers in the Colonial American field, was developed in the Historical Studies Center of the Junta de Ampliación de Estudios. After the Spanish Civil War he went into exile, and continued working at the Colegio de México and several United States Universities.
