This analysis of the degree of cultural, political and religious influence attained by the Spaniards among the natives of the Peruvian Andes is based on the text and drawings of Felipe Guarnan Poma de Ayala's well-Known Coránica (Chronicle). The author states that among the diverse means of communicating ideas, the teaching of reading and writing to these natives represented remarkable achievements.
