This is an analysis of social definitions and family references of a community of Spanish emigrants in the southerm districts of Buenos Aires, together with the strategies developed by this group of natures of Leon to achieve considerable success in agriculture only a few year after their arrival. The reasons for this success might be found in their society of origin: small landoumers from rural areas of Castille and Leon, specialized in cereal farming; circumstances that help to explain their attainments in the River Plate.
