Courage is a major value in the Mexica conceptual world, but it is never explicitly expressed in art except by its relation with aesthetic elements intimately linked with rational and linguistic structures. Artistic figures of eagles and cats are analized as examples to understand the phenomenon, also attempting to establish a possible scale of courage in a world where reality, ritual and myth are united.
