The author, in an attempt to examine the rebellions of slaves and run away slaves in Cuba, proposes the distintion of two periods of twenty years each in order to analyse the political and social programs as well as the ideological meaning of those uprisings. The first one, the iniciation stage (1795-1815) is conditioned by the influence of Saint Domingue revolution; the second one, the mature stage (1820-1844) is defined by the existence of a seditions project with outlined aims. To illustrate each period there is a selection of representative examples.
