Abstract

Despite the general neglect in Spain of studies on the Indians of North America, even in those regions which were historically under Spanish sovereignty, the Revista de Indias has published twenty seven articles which touch on some aspects of North American history and culture and refer to native peoples. The cultural and geographical areas considered are the southeast, the southwest, California, and, to a smaller extent, the southern plains (Texas).
