The authors defend the figure and work of Espinosa Medrano "Lunarejo" through an analysis of existing historiography and their own contributions culled from consultations in unpublished sources at the General Archive of the Indies and several Cuzco archives, presenting a chronological relation of his life and a more erudite, systematic version of this seventcenth-century Peruvian intellectual's activities. He held ecclesiastical posts, and was an orator, man of letters, professor and playwright.
